Since our inception we committed ourselves to providing recognised South African qualifications to contribute to the body of managerial talent. We see this as our point of departure whenever a qualification is introduced. Southern Business School is a distance learning institution and was established in 1994 with the sole purpose of providing affordable, quality, recognised management- and management-related education.

Since its establishment Southern Business School have been leading the way in the development and delivery of management education, making ground-breaking progress in providing accessible distance learning solutions. Southern Business School (SBS) is currently one of South Africa’s major accredited providers of higher education distance learning in the field of management. All our qualifications, training courses, and consultation in the private as well as public sectors focus on management and its various specialist streams, which enables us to focus all our resources on what we do best — help develop successful management. There is for us no better reward than a student excelling in his or her career.

Quality, Affordabilty and Recognition

Southern Business School provides higher education in a framework where quality, affordability and recognition play a central role.

The quality of our programmes and student services is the end result of various internal quality assurance processes that are monitored by a full-time Quality Assurance Executive. Externally we ensure quality through regular peer reviews, by adhering to the requirements of professional bodies, and by always aiming to exceed the expectations of industry. Quality is also strictly regulated in the legal framework of the Department of Education, Council on Higher Education (CHE), and the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).

Affordability is paramount in a developing country such as ours and we are proud that we are continuously able to meet the demand for quality education at reasonable cost.

Recognition is reflected in Southern Business School’s registration with the Department of Education as a private higher education institution and in our agreements with several public, private and international institutions of higher learning. It also reflects the fact that we recognise our learners as the focus of all our actions. We recognise previous learning experiences and endeavour to open up access to higher education for as many people as possible.
